Russian party established a company, “Akkuyu NGS Elektrik ÜretimA. Their findings will be used to prepare a package of licensing documents and for making of preliminary engineering decisions, as well as used as baseline data for further investigations. Akkuyu, since the site was already licensed, but licensing was also proceeding for Sinop.

Dmitriy Pokidyshev, Chief Licensing and Technical Coordinator of the AKKUYU NPP JSC Project Company, made a detailed presentation about the status of the first Turkish nuclear power plant construction process. The Project company Akkuyu NPP JSC is established pursuant to the bi-lateral Agreement signed on 12 May 2010 between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of the Russian Federation and is entrusted with the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of four NPP Units at the site of Akkuyu on the Mediterranean Sea shore. First, Rosatom, through the local SPV (Akkuyu NPP JSC), pays the contractor, Atomstroyexport JSC, to build the reactor.
