A new airbag design debuting on the 2015 Ford Mustang raises the bar for passenger safety by providing inflatable restraint protection in a smaller, lighter package that also enables a roomier interior for more comfort. Knee airbags are designed to reduce leg injury and can be mounted on both the driver and passenger sides. During a crash, the passive safety systems like airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners are activated by sensors located throughout the vehicle.
