Piledriver architecture as the Trinity-based APUs introduced less than one month ago. The updated AMD FX-Series of desktop processors featuring the Piledriver microarchitecture was codenamed “Vishera” and we’ve had the flagship variant, the new FX-8350, in the lab for a couple of weeks now.

Codename Vishera for AMD’s Piledriver core based FX series processors surfaced many years ago. FX-CPUs (codenamed Vishera), led by the flagship chip, the FX-8350 and based on its new Piledriver architecture. The 2nd generation AMD FX processors utilize the new “Piledriver” cores introduced first on the “Trinity” APUs, improving upon the previous generation “Bulldozer” design.
This past September AMD introduced a refresh of their FX CPUs that included a few new more power efficient CPUs along with a major pricing restructure to update the lineup.
